Joe Monteleone, the “Andy Warhol of modern dance” (The Moving Beauty Series 2015) and Artistic Director of Monteleone Dance, is “A one-man-band soloist and choreographer – who mixes his own music, commissions original curated video art, creates video game montages, records monologues, and controls his own lighting with the flick of a switch – Joe Monteleone is the rare control freak who can do it all and come out with a dazzlingly realized project” (Huffington Post 2017). His “hyper-limber and symbol based choreography with dime-stopping precision” (Hufington Post 2017) has been presented extensively in New York City, nationally and internationally. International credits include: tour with International BPM to Spain on multiple residencies, a commission by the Institute of the Arts Barcelona, and a performance in the Bailar al Sol Festival. Joe won the Audience Favorite Award at NYC10 in 2015 for his solo work “Defense Mechanism”, and was voted favorite choreographer at The Intimate Series.
