People Pleaser is a three-level web game, where players must face responsibilities and obligations at different stages of their life, taking them all down in order to progress to the next level. As the game progresses, obstacles increase and each level becomes progressively more difficult to complete.
While the work takes the form of a simple 8-bit video game, People Pleaser incorporates real themes such as societal anxiety and mental health. As users progress through the levels, they may react with feelings such as frustration and anger. Through this, People Pleaser becomes—not just a game—but also a medium for promoting awareness and understanding of complex, relevant issues.
