After terrfying stats came out about youth suicide in our country and dealing with our own local young people taking there own lives I started asking the young people questions about how to help. A focus on the grass roots understanding of youth mental health and well being and what we as people in the neighbourhood can do very simply to get alongside young people through the passions we have.
It takes time to understand people.
It takes time to Trust,
it takes time to be Vulnerable.
The first two tracks: A local grom, now young person at the age of 20 years old called William Jamieson. His sound cloud name is ‘lucky.s.’ his music is ambient and taking off over seas in European countries. He just finished studying A BACHelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy. If your in a crisis mode and ring a help line you might hear his calming voice talk to you.
Piano player: Alex is a lawyer in our local city and mentors young people while teaching them to play piano.
Last Track: Holly Arrowsmith, a local music and song writer who married my cousin. She has a very quiet and calm demeanour about her, every time I hang with her I relax even more then I ever thought I could. Her and her husband are fitting out a big bedford bus to live in at the moment.
Flower Display: ‘Bunch florals’ is her business name.. Run by a beautiful local lady that wants to stay anonymous.
camera gear: Steve- Steve. He let me borrow all his camera gear to shot this film and is also a young 20 year old who has also taken a bunch of young people under his wing taking them surfing etc.
Beccy Haylock: My sister in law let me borrow her stuff.
Taylor Fast: let me borrow his stuff
Cam Henderson: let me borrow his lens.
Surfers: Done by the locals, who invest in their close friendships/ families/ young people in their immediate and wider social circles.
film Photos: Shot by locals.
A Neighbourhood focused surf film.
