Generally speaking, triggers are common features or people that bring back thoughts and feelings associated with past negative experiences (i.e., trauma).
Sometimes this can be as basic as being in a certain location, encountering a specific person on your commute to work, or feeling the same kind of emotions that you felt during a traumatic event.
That said, triggers can sometimes be more subtle; for instance, it could be a certain sound or smell.
