A collaboration between filmmaker Dave Steck and composer Norman Westberg, best known for his guitar work in the band Swans, that uses his solo piece “Bedroom Off” as a soundtrack.
The film uses visual elements from nature, including the movement of trees and snow, to create an organic rhythm that weaves across the music, sometimes in synchronous harmony and sometimes in a contrasting juxtaposition. It cycles from light to dark, the way the day moves into night.
This film is part of Steck’s SPLIT series, in which he takes objects and deconstructs them to elements of shapes and light, and then kaleidoscopically transforms them into something new, while still retaining their iconography.
